I cannot figure out what constitutes a 1909 cross tie. These are clearly round leaves. Is this a cross tie? What is the definition of a cross tie?

Looks like a cross bow tie. Check the top of the imperial crown to see if there is a cross over a bow tie

An easy way to tell is look at the leaves.
A Bowtie has the Rounded Leaves variety.
A Cross/Bowtie has the Pointed Leaves variety.

Edit-
Correct typo

So, if the crown has a cross on its top, it is a cross tie?

Coins and Canada says the variety is:
1909 - Round Leaves - Cross/Bow Tie

Likewise, reviewing the certified cross ties auctions listed on the Coins and Canada site show round leaves

My error.
Looking at an older reference book for some reason.
Yes, the Rounded Leave has both versions.
The Pointed Leave only has the Cross/Bowtie.

We'll worth slabbing.
Can you show us the obverse please.

Should I use a Canadian firm? Would NGC or PCGS recognize the cross over bow tie?
