Easy boys, settle down. I know it gets exciting.

Might just be a prize at the 1000th post contest.

Great price for those proofs. Nice finds CRH. That 2021 looks like it's been out of the set since then. Always nice to find the old 2012. Good stuff.

Nice snag Denny. Not many of those made annually. Not Intended For Circulation. In good shape for being "in the wild".

Happy B-day denny. Nice find. You have to wonder why it's set was cracked.

When I see coins like this in the wild, my mind races. Why? Was it a kid who cut open his gift for an ice cream bar. Or as mcshilling says, a victim of theft, which in that case usually boils down to addiction. Or the one that drives me nuts is desperation. The set, with a 50 cent piece, gets you $3.90. Having to crack it for say, food/pay bills, upsets me.

One time in line at a grocery store, the elderly lady in front of me had a small purchase, began to pay with silver quarters. I had to help. "Put those away mam." I covered her purchase with pocket change and we had a good talk after. She told me it was hard to make ends meet. Broke my heart. I explained that those quarters were worth way more than 25 cents and not to spend them that way. She was so touched. Grabbed my hand and thanked me saying "I have so many of these." I said, "Glad I could help." Feel good moment there.
