This medal was recently graded/encapsulated by NGC and is part of my research collection (hence, the pedigree label) for a work-in-progress book I'm writing. This is the first medal of its kind to be encapsulated/graded by a TPG. Size of a US half-dollar and slightly thicker. The reverse of this medal depicts President Eisenhower's travel route during his eleven nation goodwill tour in December 1959. The nations President Eisenhower visited include: Italy, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Greece, Tunisia, France, Germany, and Morocco. The obverse of the medal identifies the owner/issuer of the medal as Dwight D. Eisenhower (D.D.E.). The medal was struck by the US Mint Philadelphia. Funding of this medal was provided by the State Department. This medal type was issued with a key chain attached (removed by NGC per my direction and without receiving a DETAILS designation) along the eleven nation travel route in 1959. Full-details of President Eisenhower's trip (39 minute video). https://www.c-span.org/video/?15307...-nation-tourA collector note: See time 10:40 as President Eisenhower, the coin collector, reviews an ancient coin collection. This medal is not a challenge coin nor a commemorative coin, it is a historical presidential artifact. NGC verification link: https://www.NGCcoin.com/certlookup/.../62/#group-2This is a commemorative leather box with the cities visited during President Eisenhower eleven nation goodwill tour. This medal is part of the POTUS sGm series https://www.potus-sgm.com/

Great examples, everyone! Here's the famous Chinese Pagoda in Kew Botanical Gardens, London, on the scarce 2009 50p coin. Photos are taken through the plastic case of my 2009 BU set - I've never found one of these in circulation (mintage: 210,000)!
