if this is a Cud, is there a more specific name for this or just an early (rim?) Cud as it just looks different (very "pimply" and edges are not as defined/crisp as the Cuds I have seen) there is also another small area on the rim below the o of one starting... not shown And what might have caused the "indents" on the rim just before the word united? part of this event or ? Thank you
I'm leaning towards it being a folded over fin, not a Cud. Sometimes if the striking chamber is not set up correctly some of the coining metal squeezes up between the collar and the die. This results in a thin "fin" at the coin's rim. Further along that fin gets folded over. That's what I think you have.
Looks more like die attrition on the tops of the devices on UNITED. A better set of images showing all of them on UNITED would be a great thing to happen.
coop you asked for other images? I only uploaded what I thought was needed to get an answer. I have uploaded the rest of what I took at the time to finish your collage? **very nice by the way** if you need more consistent (lighting/angle) for edu pic file purposes I have no problem trying for better to help. just as you know my equipment is old and limited in what it can do....hmmm sounds kinda like me lol Have a great day all
