Hi all! I received this penny in a proof set from coin dealer. It appears to have some type of machining error (not sure that's correct term) with silver indentions/lining all along the obverse and reverse ie date, liberty, in God we trust. Is it fake penny? I don't know how to get it out of hard case to get better pics.

That is called plate splitting, that is where the plating separated when the cent was struck.

Right - it exposes the zinc core which will start to rot when exposed to air. I would return the set and get a good one if possible. Not only that but your Lincoln Proof Cent looks like crap!

To CCF! It's called Split Plate Doubling, which is a completely worthless type of doubling unfortunately. I would get your money back from the dealer you bought it from. http://www.error-ref.com/split-plate-doubling/
