Is The 1987 S Penny An Error? - Coin Community Forum

hd4hvn New Member United States 23 Posts	Posted 09/24/2018 5:51 pm Hi all! I received this penny in a proof set from coin dealer. It appears to have some type of machining error (not sure that's correct term) with silver indentions/lining all along the obverse and reverse ie date, liberty, in God we trust. Is it fake penny? I don't know how to get it out of hard case to get better pics. Report this Post to the Staff

It's called Split Plate Doubling, which is a completely worthless type of doubling unfortunately.
