Susuman - wowzers!!
Just to catch up on what's been said lately; The "what we collect" is in theory a great idea, but somewhat lacking, in that there is insufficient space for an assignment to really use it; This is where a "want list" can hopefully be handy.
I know last year I said I would pick something in advance and just send it - but once again I find myself wanting to send a personalized gift that hopefully my assignment can use to add to their collection. I should hopefully get the last couple coins this weekend, and mailing it off monday... hopefully the postal strike (and resulting backlog) won't hold up my assignment from recieving it before Christmas!!

I had donned Santa suit and hat on today. And climbed in a new Santamobile.
I sled all the way to Post Office. There elves were happy to take a special wee parcel for this gentleman. They will see to that he gets his surprise this Saturday or at the latest Monday.
Ho ho ho!

So, to avoid post office, I want to send small bubble wrap package. Simple right....well it needs to go to Canada. Probably under an ounce, but to be safe assume 2 oz. How much postage is needed if mailed by 12/31? And to be extra safe, how much for 3 oz?
Thanks.

@jimbucks, it would be $1.61 for 3 oz.

@jimbucks -
If the envelope is thick or uneven it will cost a bit more - maybe throw on an extra stamp or two - better safe than sorry.

Just got my package. Very interesting. A bunch of E. European coins (cool) and a 1965 90% Silver Statue of Liberty medal. Research on the medal revealed it was the first medal authorized by the US Government and released by the treasury with a mintage of only 5,000. I think it was minted by the US Mint, but info is tough to come by. Here is a link for some of the puzzle. https://www.medalcollectors.org/Gui...MS/LNMS.htmlI have never heard of this medal before, have you? Thanks Santa.

Can you post pics of it, @jimbucks? According to the link you gave, the silver versions were struck at the Philly mint and the larger bronze versions by MACo. I have many doubts that it is the first medal authorized by the US government and/or released by the Treasury. No matter what, that's a nice gift!

Can't seem to find the link that said it was the first medal authorized by the US Treasury so don't really know about that, since I am not a medal collector. Here are pics so you can see what it looks like. Something new I've learned, since never heard of these before. I like the fact that is obscure, made of silver, presumably minted by the US mint, and only 5,000 made.

Thanks for the pics. Is there any edge lettering? If it helps any, here is what was said on another forum five years ago: Quote: Here is what I know: 1. They were struck at the Philly mint 2. This was done in 1965 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the conception of the Statue of Liberty 3. They were struck in Bronze and 90% Silver 4. The Silver strikes were limited to 5000 pieces 5. Each medallion weighs 19.77 grams 6. The sale of the medallions was supervised by the NYC National Shrines Advisory Board 7. The original cost was $10(Silver) and $4(Bronze) for each medallion

/\ is that half dollar a circulation strike? What year is it? I don't know everything about USA half dollars, but have a columbian exposition issue, a couple walking liberty issues, and I believe a couple Franklin issues, along with a stack of (mostly plated) Kennedy half dollars.
