Thanks you guys! Quote: Congrats! I was watching that sale. Looks like some spirited bidding. I got lucky with that bidding. I bid $107.87 and it sat at $57.00 for quite some time until that last guy came in and pushed it up to $107.50 with his 6 consecutive bids. Since it went over $100 the bid increments rose to $2.50 and he bid $105.00. With 4 seconds left, I manually confirmed a final bid of $138.86 knowing that would most likely win but just a few bucks over what I wanted to pay tops. My manual last second snipe did not go through in time! It usually does, but lucky for me, nobody else was sniping. Then at check-out I had a slight disappointment when I saw sales tax added because the seller is in my state. So I ended up with a bill of $116.60 which still was a good price for the Handel ticket. Glad nobody else sniped. If I had to pay my snipe bid and if it did go through, with sales tax and shipping, I would have been a little rattled at close to $150.00 because there will be others for less than that down the road. Handel looks like it fits very nicely into my set. I do sort of regret a tiny bit that I passed on buying the other tickets with the stubs but these tickets have a touch of romance, actually being used at the Exposition and cared for over the last 125 years, which on the other hand, makes them kind of special too.

From info on this thread, am I correct to assume that tickets with the stub attached that do NOT have the "A" are probably pretty scarce? Meanwhile, I picked these up on ebay for $140. I think that's a decent deal.

Yes nice lot I remember that lot. I think the Pan American Ticket is the one that helped drive that price up. Franklin is tougher but I think having the stubs makes those about 3 x more valuable than without. I think the envelopes contained 5 tickets, including your Franklin but the others, Indian, Washington, Lincoln and Columbus were also in it with an "A" on them like the Franklin has. I don't think the others were included. Nice 1901 Buffalo Pan American ticket!

1893 Columbian Exposition Return Pass I have seen these in green, pink, tan and this blue color with different perforated numbers and those without the perforated numbers. This one appears to have remnants of some adhesive from "loose leaf reinforcements" on the reverse. These are small roll type tickets, the size of what are often used in 50/50 drawings. I also expanded my collection to include this 1901 Pan American Buffalo NY World's Fair Child's TicketIt is a bit of a scarce issue and in decent shape. Has the 1/2 red overprint which is "half price" of an adult ticket.

I stumbled across these reprints, be careful. These were made in 1992 and all have a brown colored back but still ...

Just thought I'd add this. Last night someone spent $372 at Heritage Auctions for just the Lincoln and Indian tickets! They are in nice shape but no one who knows anything about these would ever spend that kind of money. Unless I'm missing something here... https://currency.ha.com/itm/miscell...bnail-071515

Those are nice ones you point to on HA but I agree the buyer paid dearly. I could see Handel and Franklin fetch that tho. I have been recuperating from a total knee replacement. Healing very nicely and getting around very well already at three & a half weeks out of surgery. Sitting at the PC has been tough, so I have only been able to get on for a few minutes until tonight, but I just finished this set of FOUR 1876 Philadelphia Exposition tickets. There are four tickets I have found to make a set for this type ticket. Top Left has a RED serial number Top Right has a BLUE serial number Bottom Left has a RED serial number with a FIFTY CENTS overprint in red Bottom Right has a BLUE serial number with a FIFTY CENTS overprint in red Despite my photos these are close in ink color and paper color to match quite well and in very nice higher grade condition.
