I keep them. I don't go through a lot of change so I maybe have about 10 dollars face in copper cents that I've accumulated over time.

I have been separating them for a while now. I have a few shoe boxes filled with rolls of them. I put the 1982 cents in a separate box and I weigh them every few years to separate them also. I know there is a ban on melting them but eventually they will stop minting new pennies (maybe?). Then they will remove the ban on melting. Hopefully in my lifetime!

i used to keep all pre-83 copper cents, but not anymore. i'll save LWC, but not LMC, largely. i'll only retain certain LMC dates & mints for study. saving copper cents isn't of particular interest anymore, honestly, for a variety of reasons.

I keep LMCs dated 1959-69PDS and 1970-74S. Ive sold large batches of these for a small profit. I hate hearing the melting of coins even in a sentence and will never do so myself. I keep a few rolls of each date and mint mark tucked away in a box.

I keep and seperate LWC and LMC up to 1982
anything newer goes to the coinstar machine.
The coin counting machine at my credit union is free to use for their clients.
