Quote: Of course the real issue is if the tapping works, it's going to fall again. Tapping did not budge either of mine one bit.

Honestly, anyone with an offset dollar like that should just immediately get a replacement or a refund. The set isn't sold out, plenty are left and maybe if enough people do returns the mint will realize quality matters. Either way there's not reason to attempt to fix a set

I called to inquire about an exchange, told the customer service representative about the problem and she immediately said that she was emailing me a return label. I asked her if she had received other calls about the problem and she said yes (tone of voice indicated many calls). I'm just crossing my fingers that the replacement sets don't have the same problem.

Right - I'd be surprised if the replacements don't have the same issue. At the end of the day my main goal is the coin, but it would sure be nice for the entire product to be presentable.

These are on back order as of 7:30 AM EST this morning. Maybe the new ones will have the dollar bill issue fixed.

I got two sets, one is fine and the other has the bill out of line and jammed in the packaging. I looked at it and there is some double sided sticky foamy tape that holds the package together. The bill is stuck to that, so whatever I do the bill would be damaged trying to free it. Disappointing and now I have to wait for a return label also. Considering the mint has had this problem before, you would think they would learn!

I thought this was likely the problem with misaligned notes that couldn't be tapped back into place Still waiting on my return label as well, started the return on 8/1, checked on it yesterday and was told there are MANY returns being processed and I'll eventually get the label

This is the worst quality issue I've seen from the U.S. Mint. I may have to do my first return.

HI all. I got my set today and the dollar bill was just as badly out of alignment as the ones pictured on this thread. I don't suggest doing what I did, that's up to you to decide, but I worked on mine and I can tell you it's not closed with glue. They used a thin double sided white foam tape and framed the plastic holder with it to hold the cardboard down. If you look at the edge of that part of the set you can see it between the layers. I peeled the cardboard of the package up careful not to bend or fold it and realigned the dollar which was stuck in the foam tape (correct, no amount of tapping would have moved it back into alignment) and then pressed the edge back down on the tape and resealed it no worse for the wear. Pictures attached of the fished product. If you look at it from the edge you'll see what I'm talking about. It can be done if done carefully and take your time like trying to peel off a sticker without destroying it. Of course just returning it would probably be the best option but I'm fairly certain they will do the same thing I did and ship it out again to someone else and it seems widespread enough that a replacement will either have the same issue or have been fixed by them the way I fixed it. Anyways as I said the decision is up to you. It took all of about 5 minutes and I pried up the dollar rolling a toothpick under the bill between the tape and the bill to free it without putting any bends or folds in it. I wouldn't do it more than once though because I'm sure the tape adhesive will get weaker and weaker each time.

I wonder if they're on backorder because they need to mint more or because they wisely stopped sales in order to fix what they have in stock.
