Looks like it took a hit and pushed the metal making it appear to be something it is not. Spender for sure.

Whatever damage it might be, it's still Post Strike Damage ( PSD). It's only worth face value, since it's just a damaged coin.

The die for a 1972 had not been created yet. Also if it were a 2, the rest of the coin would also show the same raise areas on both sides of the coin. Not possible to have a 2 on your coin.

That would be called a double strike. Your coin is not one of these. So it is not a 2.
