So I have this one penny from 1995, no mint mark
& the front of the penny's color stands out from all the other penny's I have. It is a darker blackish color and the
back is almost the regular brownish color.

is there a reason for this?
cant seem to find it online..

thnx I will upload pix if necessary!

It may be a double dye, there are some marks behind Lincolns head but I am not sure!
thanks

The pictures are unfortunately to far away from the coin. In order to tell if it's a Doubled Die or not, we'll need very close up pictures of the coin obverse and reverse. Try getting them as much close up as you possibly can.

Can't tell anything from the small pictures.
Please crop and rotate as per CCF Insructions

Correction in terminology-
Its called a "Doubled Die", not double dye.

The darkish color is caused by toning, from a chemical reaction. When coins circulate, they can tone over time by environmental damage or other things.

As to it being a Doubled Die, it's not. It's a normal Lincoln Memorial cent.

Also when you scan a coin, try setting the scanner at the widest image size. Also try placing dark material over the coin. The white on the top of the scanner, is making the coin to light in color. Place coin on glass and put the material over the coin. (Also check to make sure there is no dust on the scanner)
