Clues - 1) San Fran Fed so probably saw most of its circulation in California, 2) well worn, 3) last name of the top autograph appears to begin with "F". I'm clueless as to what the chicken scratch is with the bottom autograph.

I know when people met famous people it was not unusual to pull out a dollar bill and have them autograph it.

I definitely see "Ford" in the first sig. And now that Missouriblue mentions it, that does look like a "Jim".

No idea for sure but I think I'm seeing a "J" and "B" for initials of the second one.

True. I did that when I ran into Greg Norman back in '92.

I found myself in an airport line with Sally Field back in the '80s, but pulling out my wallet was the last thing on my mind.

Thanks for all the help so far.

I'm leaning towards "Jim Ford" (the singer) as the top autograph (thx to Missouriblue) and my tired old eyes. Ford was a country soul musician active in the 70's.

The big clue of "soul" music leads me to agree with Celticknot and think the bottom autograph looks like a huge "J" and a huge "B" and just might be the Godfather of Soul James Brown. Brown was a huge superstar in the 70's and throughout most of his career.

Sadly, both performers are gone.

Sky - I can see how you came up with those names. Must be someplace in the internet where you can fine James Brown's signature for comparison.
