the nights of the 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th produced a combined $1.30, which is lousy for a four-day holiday weekend. the nights of the 8th, 9th & 10th produced a combined $6.49, including three dollar bills, or almost 5x the amount of the 4th-7th. go figure.

heh... upon my arrival for taking down the hot dog stand, about 1:40am, Dana the hot dog lady told me that she picked $40 off the sidewalk in front of the stand late friday night, two twenties folded up; I told her next time that happens try to get a picture... she thanked me, said I've brought my money-finding luck to her corner... I said "no charge"...

i got my $75 and I picked sixty-three cents along the way in my nightly travels, closing in on the $250-mark, any day now.

last night I picked $1.49 in well-scattered change, which boosted my running total over and well-past the $250-mark. yay! at the current rate of nightly findings I ought to hit the $260-mark in about 7-10 days. every ten dollar-mark is cause for a small celebration (in my own head). it's just like counting down the mile markers on a really long road trip (which it kind of is).

there have been numerous quarters from vending machines lately. I hope that trend continues.

last night's haul topped-off all 4 of my coin tubes and I was able to wrap one roll each of quarters, dimes, nickels and cents and add them to the pile... $17.50. the pile (of rolls of change) has grown to $74 since about the middle of may. the pile gets hauled to the bank & deposited into checking once I hit the $100-mark. I can then make a credit card payment with it. with a little luck that'll happen next month.

tonight I picked exactly one dollar in well-scattered change, among the pickins was a 1943-S Jefferson nickel with a somewhat scuffed reverse salvaged from a shopping center's drive.. another War Nickel!? I picked a 1943-P from a different parking area within the same shopping center back in january... if I find a 1943-D i'll hit a neat trifecta... too bad I couldn't have found this one sooner and spared it the ignominy of road rash:
