Quote: Found two 5p coins on the sidewalk yesterday in different locations along a 5-mile walk! Very nice! Quote: There was nobody else around so I gave each coin a single whack and sure enough they came loose, with a chunk of concrete still attached. Well done!

A Honda seat kept spitting out coins yesterday... I have no idea where they were hiding but as I disassembled it, they just kept hitting the floor! Oddly enough, a modern car seat had the following: 1981 quarter 1982 dime 1985 penny 1988 quarter ... and a 2009 Canadian quarter?

When I was doing night shift at the hospital scrubbing and waxing floors, one time my partner decided to wax a quarter into the floor and to this day I still see people try and pick it up, some try harder then others lol...that was 2 years ago and the quarter still remains. I decided to place a big chair over it because I started feeling bad. Last coin I found was a Lazer mania token lol. When I was working in hemo dialysis on nights I would find change, bills, and the odd gift card inside the sides of the chairs fairly regularly. I miss finding coins lol, but I don't miss night shift so it balances out.

Wrekkdd - that's a HOOT! Sort of reminds me of a local company who printed little ads on what looked like a folded dollar bill. It was actually half the size and BOY did it catch your attention!
I know someone in the past glued a nickel to a floor, but I can't remember the details anymore... would have been school or work...

This thread has been very quiet lately! I went for a walk this afternoon and found an ordinary British 1991 penny on the sidewalk - my first find for ages!

Amazing as to what people don't value, don't take care of and just toss away.

when a new school year began, it was standard practice at my high school to glue a quarter to the floor near a busy doorway to see how many frosh would try to pick it up while others plowed into them, eventually someone (maybe the school staff) would pry it off
a similar game was to photocopy a dollar bill, fold it in half so the blank side was inside, and leave it on the ground to see how many would pick it up, about half of those who picked it up would immediately stuff it in their pocket, the other half noticed the paper didn't feel right and would drop it back on the ground

My first found money story happened sometime around 1976. I would have been 8 years old or so. I was walking to school when I found a 1964 quarter. I don't remember who explained to me how it was different from a 1974 quarter, being 90% silver, but I was so fascinated with that. That's the moment I became a coin collector. My great uncle, William Schill, apparently was a pretty big collector. I didn't know him well, but he heard about my interest and seeded my collection with a number of foreign coins from the 1700s and 1800s, as well as a number of cull V nickels, a bald and holed 3-cent piece, a number of other coins and a couple dateless large cents. I've since ID'd one of them as a 1798. The other doesn't have enough detail to tell.

After a long 'drought' I've found two coins in parking lots in 24 hours - a nicely-preserved 1996 1p with lots of lustre... ... and a scratched-up 2p from the year 2000...
