Just got this in circulation from a local store today. I can't tell for sure of the variety, large or small.

Quote: After a long 'drought' I've found two coins in parking lots in 24 hours - a nicely-preserved 1996 1p with lots of lustre... and a scratched-up 2p from the year 2000... Excellent! Walking in London this morning, I noticed a bit of paper lying on the ground. As I got closer, I realised it was a United States $5 bill! Some American tourist is $5 poorer! (If a CCF member lost it, I'll send it to them if they can tell me exactly where in London they lost it!) When I went to the station to get my train home, I found a 2011 5p piece on the platform!

A strange find on the road near my local gas station - a 1991 Jersey 5p! Maybe someone was given it in change and tossed it away as it was a 'foreign' coin...

Not found anything for ages, but three days ago I picked up a 2005 Johnson's Dictionary 50p off the sidewalk! It's one of the most common commemorative 50 pence coins, but it's still free money!

well, I'm glad to see this thread is still active! that means ppl are still finding money & coins & stuff, does my heart good. I just read all the posts since my last post from July last year... great stories, everyone! thanks for sharing them and do carry on! I'm still at it with kitty-feeding, money-finding & coin-picking. that hasn't changed for me, tho my nightly route has evolved a bit. i have dozens and dozens and dozens (if not hundreds) of pictures of literally everything I have found in the last year and a half. it started off as a sort of experiment (ie, how much can I find & what to do with it) and has turned into my own little cottage industry. I keep thinking maybe one day ppl will come to their senses and stop throwing away their money. they haven't, so the 'experiment' continues unabated. the only things that hinder me are the weather & my own temperament. rain-outs happen now & then, and there are nights when I can't or don't want to put the time into it. i'll start posting pictures again once I've figured out the new (new to me) picture-posting system. I'm not there yet. in the meantime i'll just share my stories without pix. so, after finding & feeding all my kitties last night I scored $1.07 in well-scattered change. I'm on Cycle 22, which began September 22, just before we were whacked by Hurricane Ian. the total is currently at a bit over $90, my target amount is $113.33 (it's already spent, I took advantage of Black Friday sales), I imagine i'll reach the target before the end of December. a 'cycle' is the amount of time it takes me to find & accumulate the funds necessary to obtain whatever I'm after. I find & save up to the required amount, the cycle ends and a new cycle begins. conversion & acquisition take another week or two, depending. since 2018 there have been 21 successfully completed cycles. cycle 22 is nearing completion. conversion has already occurred, acquisition is coming very soon. it occurred to me a couple days ago that it had been quite a long time since my last collectible coin find, and the universe must have noted my thought because that very same night I picked a 1942 Wheat cent from somewhere, found it amid all the other coins at the end of the night. I take that as a good sign. more to come!
