The raised area parallel to the rim, and the way the 8 and D mint mark are "shadowed" in the direction of the rim are sure signs of worn dies. Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 75184 Posts	Posted 01/06/2019 5:29 pm Your coin shows severe die wear (AKA Die Deterioration). You have a Very Late Die State Coin. The doubling you are seeing is called Die Deterioration Doubling, which is all of a symptom of a worn die issue, from striking many planchets at the U.S. Mint. http://goccf.com/t/336470 Errers and Varietys.
