Thanks for the add--my wife and I
inherited a small coin collection from my wife's Grandmother. This forum looks like a gold mine of info and helpful people--can't wait to dig further here!
The collection contains mostly
US coins. The oldest is a
Flying Eagle penny with most of the date worn off (I can make out "185_" but the last digit is gone). There's also an 1867
Shield nickel in pretty good condition. A few others: 1889 and 1900
Morgan dollars, a pile of Barber nickels, dimes, quarters and halves in varying condition, plus some
Buffalo nickels,
Mercury dimes, Indian head pennies, and Wheat pennies. There are some foreign coins as well, with a few interesting ones from the 1920s from Australia, Panama, Norway, Sweden, and Italy. Also some nice Canadian silver (some quarters, halves and dollars from 1943 to 1955).
I look forward to learning more here. We plan to pass the collection on to another relative someday. Maybe we can learn a little about these coins so we can pass that on as well!
