Jame Or Jami New York Copper Cent, Token, Coin, Medal?

PPorro Valued Member United States 123 Posts	Posted 01/07/2019 6:54 pm I've tried all the searches I can think of and I'm also not much of a variety coin collector. I collect Jefferson nickels, US cents, flying eagles, Indian Heads... casino tokens and chips. I'm just wondering if this is some far out old coin that someone wore as a charm or if anyone can help me at all. Not drilled, punched. Says Jame? on one side and New-York on the other. The original images are closest to the color, like a copper US cent. Thickness is about .90, although looking at the edge it could be compressed.I hope this displays well? Diameter was slightly over 20mm, again, maybe because of age. It's pretty beat. Macro photos of both sides, better lighting, more letters show. BROs Report this Post to the Staff

Top of that side "...BROs" And I'm not sure if the folded edge is just from age and being pressed? Anyone recognize that as a cause for the groove instead of reeding? Report this Post to the Staff

I note that there is at least one type of copper store card with "NEW-YORK" on the bottom, a wreath in the middle, stars on the sides, and "BROs" on the top. If you are still chasing down an attribution for this interesting piece, perhaps start with Broas Brothers as you search in tokencatalogcom. I'm fairly sure the James is benJAMIne Franklin. OK it's a really, worn and mashed coin, goes on the good luck necklace, because it's not worth anything else.
