Thanks for the help! I just bought a bunch of coin books, loupes, and a scale. It will take me years to go through all of these coins! And I haven't even gotten the chance to look at the coins in special cases. I will be sure to post the best ones I can find. :)

It is best to crop photos before posting. I am glad you already got the books and a loupe and a scale. What books? You may want to get a USB scope also for close up pics. If the quarter is a type it would be worth more than melt.

I was thinking of getting a usb loupe but I have attachment lenses to take pictures from my phone that I will start using. I ordered a Red Book, a cherry pickers book and then a bunch from the Amazon kindle subscription. I am interested in the error coins, so that's what a lot of the books I got are about. Are there any specific coins I should be looking for? I'd like personal opinions on that please :)

I think you mean scope? Only use the Red Book for reference, not values.Read the Cherry Pickers Guide cover to cover a few times, lots of good info.

Thank you all. Patiently waiting for coin guides to come in (any that weren't e books). I'll probably start with the oldest coins and then all the pennies! You all have been great help and so much better than watching the same YouTube videos over and over again. glad I found this website.

I tried my best to capture the color of these quarters. the 1999 New Jersey quarters both have a golden tint. Possibly experimental dies? And I have no idea about the New York quarter. Any ideas?

That 1851 large cent is sweet. Common date but the condition is lovely. In case no one has warned you yet DO NOT try to clean your coins.

@conder101 , thank you! And the coin cleaning is actually the first thing I ever googled when I found these coins. I got a big fat NO !
I never knew that a large cent existed actually. I figure the really awesome coins are still in the boxes. Hoping I find more like it. I've been sifting through the coin jar change.
I've come across an insane amount of foreign coins as well.
My main goal is to rehome them to someone who will appreciate them more than I will.
But yes, no cleaning the coins! Thank you so much.

What do you mean please? The golden color is either a gold plated coin or just toning.

@John1 I came across a video that talked about the 1999 State Quarters and how some of them were being experimented on with dies . It's the closest thing I can find that resembles it. How do you quote? I'd like to do that.
