I found a 1972 Lincoln Cent in a roll. The obverse strike is very deep. Almost makes the coin look like it is in a bezel but it is not. The Reverse strike is normal depth. What causes this and is there any value over face? Is it considered an error?

@azmd, based on your description, I understand what you are saying, but please post pictures of both sides on this coin.

I too have found some of the 72 Cent like you describe. Don't know what caused it but not an error, just over punched. The rim appears to be to high also.

Looks like the strike of the 1973 cents. But nothing mentioned about this before. I'd save it for now. But nothing special that I know of yet. You might check the weight to see if it is normal?
