Quick update. I was hunting on ebay and found a photo that gives the "Revised Sequence" in which the medals were released. The letter is dated March 3, 1972 and only lists about half the medals (the numbering seems off?). We had mentioned before that the later medals might be less common (as subscribers left the program), and in a medal set like this rarity doesn't add a ton of value... But, for anyone who is curious:

I was just looking at this a couple days ago. Thanks for the info. This is a good thread. Made me also remember the old school copy machines we used at work in the office.

I think it's a mimeograph and I can smell the ink!!

I really enjoy all the paperwork and advertising that goes with these medals (and all medals etc from the era). It brings me back. Same reason I still flip through old magazines.

Well now, wasn't that nice? Thank you very much jeffbuckes.
I have plastic pages and I will back these papers and place them in my binder next to the medals I have.

Happy to help - ephemera really adds to the collection...

BTW: I found a guy on craigslist selling a BRONZE collection of these medals... It's bronze so it's not for me but look at the display case and ephemera he has:

I've seen those wall hangers for sale without medals.

Here's one 333112797337
Not my preference for medal display tho.

The wall hangers appealed to certain collectors (mostly little ol' ladies) back in the '70s. Today they are very very outdated like wood paneling and linoleum floors.

I read that most of the wood display boxes that came with these sets were poorly made and fell apart over time. Too bad - it's hard to display a set of heavy medals like these and I'm surprised the wall hangers survived at all. My medals don't fit in 2x2's but I just can't do the wall art...

PS: I have a set of commemorative coins that came with a gorgeous custom display box. I'll start a new thread soon and will post some pix for comparison...

They do make oversized 2x2s that will fit them

It has come to my attention that the date on the reverse of my Washington's Farewell is written with the year 1778 instead of the proper 1783. I checked the one in this thread and a few others online and they are all 1783. If anyone knows of any others, or has any info, let me know.

Awesome catch there! That is amazing.
I am looking around and see that all the others do indeed say 1873, so far.
Good catch! What is the purity on the edge of your medal? .999 or Sterling?
You definately need to get a "correct version" and keep as a set.

Very cool!
