Is the second coin a Dryer Coin, it has a significant amount of the rim missing, plus a sandblasted appearance.

More likely buried in acidic soil or pickled in acid

Look at the edge of the coin where the reeds are. If it reduced inwards, then the coin was soaked in acid.
