Here's another Economy PCGS submission. This was an ebay purchase and I was pretty pleased with its overall look. It isn't worth a lot but I was interested in seeing what PCGS thought about it. Would anyone like to predict how (and if) it will slab?

PCGS may send it back in a body bag because something just doesn't look quite right to me and is that scratch going up the leg as bad as it looks? Hopefully it looks better in hand. as far as what I think it grades I would say somewhere in the fine area

I agree that the obverse scratch and the unusual toning pattern may be an issue when slabbing.

I believe this quarter has VF-25 details.

I will go VF-30. I'm having trouble seeing the scratch, but I just woke up.

VF-30, although I think it may BB at pcgs for the obverse scratches (if they are deep enough). Neat coin.

Shadow:
It took you a day to wake up?
Exactly how long were you sleeping?

Is the color in the pic the same as the coin?

I must apologize for my photos. My camera insists on giving every coin a pinkish cast and I try to compensate with hue adjustment and reduced saturation. It seems to be getting harder to even approximate the real color. Maybe I'll just have to buy a new camera.

The actual color is more of a brown and grey hue and the darker peripheral toning seems convincingly natural. The scratch down Liberty's leg is hard to see in-hand and is quite shallow. Hopefully PCGS will find it acceptable for a mid-grade circulated coin. Thanks everyone for your input, and I'll post the result (good or bad!) when PCGS finishes up with my submission.

I think PCGS is slightly tough on these. I'd say VF25. Nice coin!

PCGS emailed me that the submission results were available, so I checked their website. They decided this quarter was worth an XF-40. I guess technically that should be EF-40, but I'll take it! Once again, it looks like when PCGS does decide to slab a circulated coin, they can be more generous than our CCF graders.

We do have our standards!

Man, they're pretty relaxed. Maybe my quarter really would make VF-35 or better and they'd overlook the light cleaning.. I'm surprised they overlooked the scratch. Some day when I have a bunch of coins that I don't keep in my album I could try this.
