While the catalog lists this as an experimental note prepared for internal use, reading the letter it would seem that this note was genuine. The letter makes no mention of it being experimental or for internal use.

The letter says it was part of the first print run of the new note. I am wondering it has all the features of the regularly circulated note.

In all the marketing material the BoC is using JHS prefix. It must have some significance.

However I do not believe that unlike the $5 note that is the talk of this discussion the more recent notes are actually printed with JHS. This prefix is only used in marketing and artistic renders of the notes.

If you watch very closely the notes that are in the hands of people have prefixes such as FFB, BSW, FTH, HBG etc.

So the $5 JHS should really be considered a circulating note and should have a catalog number of its own IMHO. It is definitely not experimental. It would be a circulation trial.

Paisa check on the back, of this year, CGPM you will find the same number and tha same prefix ,on the new 10$. If all there notes have the same number.
It is hard to give them the name of "circulation trial"

The note at the back of the latest 2019 Charlton book is an artistic rendered note and not a real note.

The note that is $5 pre-security is a real note and I think it would have been part of a print/circulation trial and there would have been more notes like that and one got out.

I have been monitoring the release of polymer notes. Every time a polymer note is coming out they still use the JHS prefix and number in the artistic render but the one they physically show at the events is not JHS as seen from photos taken at the events.
