I like this 2 cent piece mostly because I dug it up, washed it off and slathered it with Vaseline. It doesn't look too bad.

The photo washes out the rim color on the seated half but brings out the details. This is an old film photo of her still not the right color.

Those are some amazing Seated halfs! Missed yesterday... Day 3: Favorite Roman portrait AR Denarius of Caracalla, 197-211 AD. The meanest emperor - He framed his father in law for treason so he could divorce and murder his wife. Killed his brother in cold blood in front of their mother - on Saturnalia / Roman Christmas! Made it a capital offense to even mention his brother's name, and killed thousands. Heard that a playwright in Alexandria had made a satire about the murder, so he went to visit the city and had his troops indiscriminately cut down his welcoming party. He was finally stabbed in the back by one of his own soldiers whose friend Caracalla had executed. This coin is one of the few that fully and realistically capture his trademark scowl used to keep his subordinates in line - drawn lips, scrunched nose, piercing stare... not a man you'd want to cross! Day 4: Most historically important Denarius of Julius Caesar as Dictator Perpetuo - February - March 15, 44 BC The concerned partied in the Senate had been keeping a very close eye on Caesar as he used his powers as Dictator to institute sweeping legal and social reforms over the late Republic. They were alarmed that he may have been attempting to reinstitute the Roman Kingdom when he accepted the office of Dictator for ten years, and fears escalated when he began to place his own portrait on coinage in the same fashion as the Greek kings - no other Roman had dared to place more than a name on their coinage. When Caesar accepted an indefinite term as Dictator in late January or early February 44 BC, they resolved to dispose of the man before he decided to throw off the facade of the still-functioning Republic. The rest is history...

Day 4 Here is another "gifted" silver dollar Presented to my son on the occasion of his first birthday(in 1992) by his uncle, who received it on his own first birthday in 1950. My son know's I'll try to take care of it for him, for if and when he decides to gift it along to someone special in his life. I'm only a temporary caretaker at this point lol I've always thought that this commemorative is one of the nicest Canada had to offer.
