Quote: Will there be full rolls of W quarters when they are first shipped to the banks or do they somehow mix in the quarters with new rolls of D and P quarters? Just wondering how this mix works, is it a mix of rolls, or are the internal of the D and P rolls mixed? According to the US Mint announcement, "In total, the West Point Mint will strike 10 million quarters that will be mixed into bulk bags of quarters at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. In early April, the first of the W mint mark quarters will be shipped and distributed to banks and financial institutions by the Federal Reserve. The coins will likely begin to appear in circulation within four to six weeks and will be available throughout 2019."

It will be interesting to see what the asking prices will be on the first ones to appear on ebay. I'll bet they will be ridiculously high.

I am royally confused and need y'all's help. People seem to be suggesting that no one who isn't close to the 12 chosen cities will have much of a chance to see these quarters. Now I am wondering how people who only have small banks will be able to find them. I was hoping to just get UNC rolls from my small bank and have a shot at these... But where do banks get UNC rolls? What about third party rollers like Loomis? I don't know how the distribution works... I was super excited months ago about this, and today I doubt I will even see them. I have no idea if small banks might be able to order boxes from one of those cities, or... I don't know.

Theres 10 million of them and I dunno 300 million people and not everyone will know or care. 1 of 30 people will find one based on that, people who want one should be able to find one somehow through change unless they screw up distribution or someone in distribution ends up pulling them out to sell. What's also interesting is they say coin dealers from around the country intend to also put 1 million coins total into circulation that week for people to find too. I think it's very possible if you look for it you do have a shot at finding one of them at the rate they did it. They can't even sell 10 million mint or proof sets each year, meaning there aren't that many collectors so if they get distribution right and truly spread them out well then someone that really wants to find one and actively looks for it will likely find it. If you don't look you won't find. Good luck to all! I can't imagine them being extremely expensive on ebay unless people lose their common sense. 1 for every 30 citizens, it isn't that rare. What will be rare will be highly graded examples. I mean a 1996W dime in MS65 is worth like $20 and they made near 1.5 million of them. This is like 8x that and won't be MS65 unless you find it really early and it isn't bag marked up crazy. The uncirculated S mint state park quarters are a couple million of each max and they go for $1 or $2 each, Not saying people won't get stupid and overpay at the beginning but it's not THAT rare to be more than $5 or $10 each on the secondary market. What WILL be rare and costly will be MS 68-69 and 70 graded coins just like always. Just my POV on this. I plan to roll hunt just like every week for the last 30 years nothing changes for me. Maybe I'll find one hopefully. Again, good luck everyone!

Well, 10 million divided by 5 quarters, so more rare than the typical circulating coin. I think it's a good idea to get people to look at their change. Special low mintage sets where you have to be on their website at noon and hopefully get your order in don't have the same effect

Here's more detailed information on how it's going to work and distribution method. Also suspected locations that will see them first. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...ion.all.htmlAccording to that the mint is mixing the W's into the bulk bag quarter shipments themselves and sending them out to the distributors like Loomis in 29 states and a mess of citie's and from there out to circulation. Also says they started mixing at end of March for the Lowell quarter that was supposed to be going out to distributors on April 1st to eventually get rolled and go out to banks. Technically Lowell W might already be out there somewhere I think.

I wonder if these will be in those P&D mint rolls that the mint sells?

I only wonder when the Mint will open branches in every state and have piles of new Mint Marks per coin.

considering my luck with 2009 nickels (maybe 30 total, 2 in au condition in 10 boxes), I don't think I'll be successful here

Quote: I know I've never ever seen any uncirculated "S" quarters I've managed to have one trickle into my change. My question is where this quarter is going to go in my Dansco! I'm still on the lookout for my last 2018 coin(2018P Pictured Rocks), so I don't know how lucky I'll be with this.
