Mycrob, that is normal. The Lowell Ws are in the firest shipmentry of American Memorial Park coins.

The Lowell P and Ds were already done and shipped by the time the W mint marked coins were ready so the Lowell Ws were released ON April 1st with the AMP quarters and then supposedly the mid April shipment of AMP quarters will have the AMP W quarters.

I also think this is why Lowell seems more heavy per box for most people. I think they put the whole 2 million in that first shipments on April 1st to catch up and will "sprinkLe" the other Ws over the relate periods.

Lowell W is averaging like 1 per roll in a box from most reports of people finding whole boxes of AMP. People that have found AMP report having found like 8-10 per box.

I can only go by what I hear and see and haven't found a new box myself to hunt yet to give first hand knowledge but I'm pretty avid on YouTube and social media and keep an eye on ebay to gather information on it hoping to maximize my chance.

For instance, every day I check ebay and search listing for nearest to me and the closest one listed to me was 30 miles from me and it was one single coin.

Since I'm in Miami area I've concluded they turned up from tourists from other states and not from new boxes. It's been one person, one coin scenario. In my opinion it's safe for me to assume that the AMP quarter rolls haven't been distributed to banks in my area yet.

Next closset has been 180 miles and 300 miles.
I still keep looking and I still don't find AMP rolls so I think it's a pretty solid assumption.

They will turn up though. Miami is a big city and gets frequent shipments from the mint to the fed ect. Just a matter of time for the banks to need new rooms and the armored carriers to get to them in their inventory.

As far as the kids finding them. They will find them if they keep looking. It's early still only 0.10% have been graded of Lowell alone so far, they will turn up if they keep checking for them.
I doubt if even 10% of all Lowell Ws have been found yet and not even 1% of AMP have been found, and then there's 3 more designs to go.

The kids just gotta keep looking and be patcient.
I went crazy back in the early 2000s looking for the WAMS of 1998, 1999 and 2000 and that took me quite a while to find them from rolls but I did find them well at least the 1998 and 2000. I still haven't found a 1999.

Not having the opportunity to buy the -S quarters in a mint product is already frustrating. These take it to a whole new level. I think they should definitely have offered them in a mint product of some sort.

Well I just got $300 and they were all Memorial Park Denver. Not a single W in there. Seems I searched the right group, but came up empty. I'm in a city where the Ws were released.

mycrob, wow. Were they branded rolls, either The Loomis ones or the NF String and Sons, or were the wrappers the plain crimped ended wrappers?

Reason being, is if they weren't branded wrappers, they might have been already searched and returned to the bank and they re-rolled them with the plain orange and white "$10 Quarters" paper.

I got 10 rolls of D like that from an online seller for $14.95 a roll saying they were "unsearched". My belief is those unbranded paper crimped ended rolls are re-rolls from a business with a coin rolling machine, my local casino has one, I'm sure other businesses like banks (my banks specifically) have them too, and those wrappers are always re rolls/ from their change machine in the lobby. they range from $500-$4000 to buy one of the rolling/wrapping machines depending on size, so it's not out of the realm of possibility at least. I didn't find a W in those 10 rolls either, but to me those seemed like re-rolls because of the wrappers and the company sells coins by the rolls as a business they probably have a machine. I still got some nice AMP Ds for my collection so it wasn't a total loss to take a shot and see what happens.

Just a thought, you might of just been a day late on those rolls and it was someone returns. Maybe not, maybe just bad luck.

They were NF String and Sons wrappers. Not re-rolled. Teller opened a fresh box right in front of me and I took $300 of it, figuring if there was anything, I can come back for the rest of the box.

I took the rolls and deposited them to another branch, and they stayed in those wrappers. I carefully opened one end, searched and re-rolled with the same wrappers. Teller at the dump bank was perplexed and that was an interesting conversation!

Wow. OK so my experience wasn't abnormal necessarily as I thought it was. I had thought 10 rolls would at least guarantee me 1 based off average mintage's of previous years and the 2 million of each design. That sucks. I see people pulling 10+ a box on ebay and youtube.

Must be either they are extremely lucky or we are extremely unlucky. But I wouldn't give up.

IMHO such a small chance of finding all, or even one, of these quarters is not the way to attract new and young collectors.

People want things that are harder to find and stick with it when they finally do find it. If it was so easy that anyone could find them whenever no one would care and they'd be sitting in car cup holders or tossed out at will which even collectors do with the overwhelming majority of their change.

It has to be difficult to generate excitement.

Mentioned the "W" quarters to my daughter the other day and got a text from her at 8:30 this morning. Included was a picture of an end coin "W" quarter in a Loomus wrapped roll she had just spotted. She purchased that roll, along with 9 other rolls from the same grouping.

Brought them to me this afternoon and she and I went through them. The rolls each contained a mix of old quarters and new Lowell and AMP 2019 D mints. Ratio was about 75% new coins vs 25 % old coins. The only "W" coin in the 100$ group was the Lowell that was on the end of the roll.

At least I got one!

I think you should consider giving that W quarter to your daughter since she found it.

She has no interest in my coins.

The paper money is a whole different story though. She has set her sights set on a $1 1928 red seal I have that was signed by The All American Girls Baseball Team coached by Johnny Rawlings. Believe me she'll be much more happy with the note than she would the coin!
