Quote: People want things that are harder to find and stick with it when they finally do find it. If it was so easy that anyone could find them whenever no one would care and they'd be sitting in car cup holders or tossed out at will which even collectors do with the overwhelming majority of their change. Couldn't disagree more IMHO most people don't stick with hobbies that frustrate them. A 1 in 1000 chance of finding a W ATB Quarter is just not going to get very many non-collectors to become coin collectors. There's a big difference between easy and nearly impossible.

If they continue to do these with the rest of the ATB Quarters then maybe more people will get a few, maybe get some dupes and maybe, just maybe come to this forum to trade. ...pie in the sky hopes. Maybe. Maybe not. I like how the Ike series has a beginning and an end. My Dansco set is complete. My PCGS set will be complete. Would I like more? That opinion changes daily, but I always look at the Kennedy half dollar when I contemplate it. I like Kennedy half dollars a lot, but I like the Franklin half dollar more and it seems to me that is only because it has a beginning and end. Oh, the things we contemplate.

This is the problem with putting actual people on a coin. People view it as a statement that they're no longer appreciated if the series ends.

The next thing the mint could do is load up a couple of semi's with a press, a bunch of quarter blanks, support equipment and then head out on the road to New Orleans and Carson City. Next, set up shop in the parking lots and start striking ATB Quarters with the "O" and "CC" mintmarks. The possibilities are endless. Gimmicks 101.

I agree with jbuck about a beginning and end. I enjoy the beauty of Buff nickels, Mercury dimes and Walker halves. I love the early coppers. KK

http://goccf.com/t/74084&whichpage=114#2971491Link is to my 2019W quarter hunt results posting in the roll hunting section of this forum for anyone interested with my findings from a 1 box hunt 2019 American Memorial Park quarters, Loomis Rolls. Absolutely I did go more than 10 rolls of the box without even 1 W mintmark quarter find. 10 rolls left of the box to search. Of 40 rolls so far only 8 rolls had either 1 or 2 W mintmark quarters.
