Sorry...having a senior moment day....

Correct...it was actually an accepted best offer but I can't find the actual accepted price but it definitely would be more than I stated. ..and I have a bunch of these bucks..maybe I can get $7 for them ;)

What my opinions are about the 2019 set are as stated

Out of morbid curiosity I flipped on the HSN coin show and they had this set up, then the host stated that ANACS informed him the mint snuck in a special finish coin for the dimes. This seems like a creative liberty.

He then said something along the lines that he bought 20 thousand sets. Either that was a lie or there will be a big bump in the next report. He is selling for 100 bucks.

My set showed up Thursday. When I opened the box and removed the set, the half dollar was sitting in the bottom of the box. Fortunately, it was still in the outside lens. I put on my gloves and pressed it back in to the OGP. It looks like no damage was done.

Not so sure about a special finish but it is possible they used special dies with a proof like finish. The story on these is still developing.

What I can say for sure is that mine had special handling, they are MS coins with no contact marks and very few remaining planchet marks. They also must be from either special dies or very well prepared dies MS dies. In order for them all to have no contact marks, they must have had special handling. It's not just the dimes, the cent and nickel are also very high grade proof like.

All the coins in the mint sets should be treated this way.

I vote lie..but we will see and fortunately, with the set still available from the Mint, it will be VERY easy to find out.

I bet they just assume that anyone willing to fork over $100 for a set they can get for $20 isn't into buying ANYTHING from the Mint...and that's probably true.

So much for products for the kids...

So the sales number as of last Sunday was 19748 so HSN couldn't have bought their 20,000 sets yet. This week should reflect the purchase...ummmmm...no...

Those who voted "lie" were correct

On the "presentation" he said they bought either 5 or 10%. So 2500 or 5000 sets.

They generally do buy 5-10 percent of the mintage of things like this and sometimes more. That's not a secret.

SO the 20k reported here was incorrect and NOT a HSN lie...and the whole shebang is now mute.

I watched the clip, they had #xx of one thousand four hundred and change sets on the label. So I am guessing they bought 2,500 sets and out of those they made 1,400 or so sets at SP69. I believe that would make him correct in saying they bough 5%.
