Quote: How many millions of these quarters will be issued? 2 million of each design. Or basically enough that every collector in the country can have one. (My estimate of the number of actual collectors (not hoarders) in the country is between 1 and 2 million. That is people who actively collect in an organized way, at any level.)

I checked the United States Mint's website and it says 10 million or so being added to bags and rolls awaiting shipment to banks during National Coin Week. Now, according to the ANA's web site it runs from April 21-27. I could be wrong, but to my knowledge the U.S. Mint has never deviated from a scheduled release date barring a shortage or the like. So how are these showing up on ebay already? Are they listings in the hopes of finding one to fulfill an order? What ever, this smells like low tide to me.

Now, according to the ANA's web site it runs from April 21-27. https://www.usmint.gov/news/inside-...-circulationQuote: In total, the West Point Mint will strike 10 million quarters that will be mixed into bulk bags of quarters at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. In early April, the first of the W mint mark quarters will be shipped and distributed to banks and financial institutions by the Federal Reserve. The coins will likely begin to appear in circulation within four to six weeks and will be available throughout 2019.
The announcement of the W mint mark quarters ties in with the American Numismatic Association's National Coin Week from April 21-27, 2019. Also during the month of April, independent coin dealers will place approximately one million of their own collectible coins into circulation across the United States as part of the Great American Coin Hunt. Looks like they're pretty much on schedule to me.

Realistically, what would be a fair market value for one of those quarters? Once they are released, of course.

Oriole, realistically, whatever the market will bear based on what people want for them and what people will pay for them. So far from what I see the coins listed are all hot garbage. Low MS at best in my opinion. The coins once it settles as more are found and put up for sale...could be $20-$50 maybe.. maybe not. Maybe less or more.2 mil of each design shouldn't be that rare, maybe $20 each. Highest graded low population coins could go for thousands for people's registry sets but I haven't seen even one that could get above a MS64 yet again, my opinion. I think once more are found and ebay gets saturated with them from people trying to cash in the prices will come way down. High graded examples will always be worth a lot though, just haven seen one yet that could qualify.

I think even $20 is a bit steep for a coin with a mintage of 2 million. I am going to wait. But I do think high grade specimens will command a premium considering these will only be obtainable from circulation.

Thanks. It seems to me that the vast majority will circulate like regular coinage since they are distributed through regular channels. I suspect that soon there will be CCF threads about these being received in change at gas stations and such.

Yeah, I'm sure people are finding one or two and putting them on the end of a roll so people will think it's a whole roll of them and spend top dollar.

I thought the mint said only 2 million of each design will be made? Also, you got to remember that about 20% or 30% will not be worth keeping.

What are the S mint circulation strikes selling for? They only have about half the mintage these W coins will have. Should give you a fair estimate of eventual value. (Since there will be a heavy reduction of the W coins out of the MS catagory.)

The 's' coins generally sell for around $1. I don't think these will ever fall quite to that level

Yeah the S coins are direct from the mint to collectors and resellers to collectors. Like all of them will be MS65 or better. These that go to circulation first will be lower grades and the higher graded ones will be much less available to collectors. I do think the price will come down considerable as the wheat is separated from the chaff so to speak, ebay sold prices are already coming down on listing are more appear and get listed.

The prices of these will always be significantly higher than the S mint ones. Remember, this is the only w issue quarter, so if your want a w issue quarter this year is the only that one available for. I suspect the price will fall significantly, but not down to the $1 level the S mints go for.
