Wow! A lot of Philadelphia bicentennial ones! How did they break down between the two varieties?

I stopped at a bank this afternoon, again looking for half dollars. The teller pulls out three rolls of large dollars wrapped in paper and asked if I wanted them. I immediately paid her $60 for the three rolls. Secretly I was hoping that there were some real silver dollars, and not just IKEs. However they were all IKEs. Interestingly there were 25 coins in each roll.
That being said I walked back in (to a very happy teller)and told her about the mistake. She had already realized it asn was upset. Good thing I counted them in the car. Something tells me she will be holding all the interesting coins for me in the future! :)
Now, what to do with all the IKEs I have been getting? In my attempts to order a box, I have collected several hundred!

I'm really starting to wonder what would happen if forums like this one could spread the word and have as many people as possible start asking for Ikes at banks. I know if they started spreading them out again, it might well be a pain getting rid of them, but they could always be used to leave tips at restaurants. Now after attempting to find some Ikes at about 10 different banks or branches I think I've had it. And now getting tuff to even get half dollars.

I've been looking for ike's to do exactly what everybody else does with them......give them for tips at reseraunts. I mean....if you want to work something out like that just drop me a PM.

jbuck; No I haven't sorted between the varieties. I had way too many halves on hand and wanted to go thru them first. While on the subject of halves; no silver in at least the last four boxes. I think the old fishing hole is starting to get fished out. Time for some road trips. I'll go through the Bi-Cent dollars in a day or so. Also the 1972 high and low relief earth varieties.

In calling local banks today looking to buy half dollar rolls for silver, I stumbled on a bank that has 170 Ike dollars. They are all loose, as they don't have any wrappers for them. They have had them for "a month or two" the teller said, so they probably aren't going anywhere. If anybody on here has an interest in them leave a post here or contact me and I will get them for you at face value plus shipping (I'll check them for silver, of course, but not varieties).

Wow! Nice little haul there. I was hoping you would find a 1972 Type 2 in the lot and you did! I am surprised there were no 1977 or 1978 dates in that batch.

Great find- either someones dump or the bank has been storing them for a few years. Either way a bonus for you. You never know what you will find. I went to a wedding last year about 40 miles from my house and popped into a branch of a bank I have accounts with that I had never been to before. Good thing I did, they had 140 Ikes for me.
