Hello all, I purchased this coin in a lot of cheap coppers from a local dealer here in Italy (I'm on vacatioooon!). This is not my area of expertise, and I have no clue how to ID it, I just knew I couldn't go wrong buying it for 10 euros.
Thanks to all, and a very sleepless night ahead for me! I'm not off the adrenaline high yet!

EDIT: I know it's a Fugio cent, I mean variety wise.

10 Euros! Umm... do they have any more? If so one could buy a ticket to Italy just on the savings.

No, unfortunately not, didn't even have anything else interesting at all, but let me tell you one thing, I've been making my "coin-minded" friends jealous all day off of this one!

What a NICE souvenir of your trip to Italy!
(We should ALL mind our own business...)
(Just HOW did this coin make it to Italy?)

I have a lot of info on Connecticuts and New Jerseys but not so much on Fugios. I did check a little earlier but will try again when I can.

I think it is obverse 13 but not positive. Reverse is tougher, attribution relies heavily on the "WE ARE ONE" and it is very weak on your coin. It kind of looks like reverse R. 13-R is a better variety but I wouldn't dare call it. Something to look at closer though.

I am coming up with obv 13 as well. I THINK the rev looks like KK. It would really help if you could post the image of the rev right side up. Obv 13 comes paired with 5 reverses, 13X is common, 13R is scarce, and 13N, JJ, KK are all rare (R-7 or R-8).

I was thinking KK as well, but the W just looks too close to the A on this coin.

I'm still coming up with KK. I can't tell if it is JJ or not because I don't have an image of JJ.

It can't be X because the W is way too far left/
On R the A in ARE is noticeably smaller and that doesn't seem to be the case on the OP coin.
N is out because it has a lot of space between the words WE ARE ONE and the OP coin is not like that.
On KK the words are close together as they are on the OP coin.

I think it is KK or JJ and either one is a win 13JJ is an R-8 and 13KK is R-7.

Do you think it's worth Sending to NGC for attribution and grading?
(Can't be JJ as that is "United States" this coin is "States United"

Conder really, really knows his stuff, but I am still stuck on R. Looking at how the A and T in STATES line up with the O in ONE, I just can't make KK work. I am going to keep searching for images of other examples in different die states, may make a difference. I would hold off on sending it off for now, we may hash it out yet.

I see what you mean about the position of the T to the O. That does seem to eliminate KK. I still have a problem with R though. The A in ARE still appears to be small on R and the distance from the top of the A to the W above it loots to be significantly more on R than on the OP coin.

I've got it bouncing around one of the colonial collectors groups. Should have a definitive answer shortly. I'd be more confident if it was a Connecticut!
