I guess I should add the counterpart to the emergency issue £1 which is the Emergency issue 10 shillings again with different colouration.

I have heard different versions of the reasoning behind the different ink colour. Some saying it was preventative to wrong foot German counterfeit operations and others saying they simply lost access to the normal dye colours.

Great note DavidUK
I think it was definitely in order to deter counterfeiters, as the metallic security thread also became a feature of these banknotes, at the time (1940).

If propaganda notes count I also have the propaganda version of this note with arabic writing on the other side, air dropped by the Germans and saying some pretty strong words about us.

Also an German propaganda of American currency which opens to reveal antisemitic smears.

I just have to pull my finger out and take them from my safe place for some photography. I'll do that when I receive a couple of notes that are in the post.

I found some photos on my computer, I don't have the US Antisemitic note handy and am not sure its a good idea to post something which surely qualifies as hate speach.

This translates as " Signs of Disintegration. If you inspect this banknote,
you will remember the time when it was worth ten times its present value in bright shiny gold.
That was because at that time the strength and riches of the mighty British Empire supported such notes.
But that greatness is fading as is the value of this worthless piece of paper. What is this note worth today?
You certainly know the answer to that.
With each passing day of this British inspired war, the strength of the Empire is depleted.
Each battle that England loses causes a further weakening of their currency.
The day draws near when even the beggars in the street will refuse the British banknote, even as a gift.
Truly, Allah wills the collapse of Britain, which will surely come to pass."

Great items DavidUK
I think it's nice to own a piece of something, from an important event or time in history.

I agree, and yes thats were the Germans dropped them.

I am sure you are also aware the Americans were paying their service personel with the yellow seal notes, aware that if anything happened to the money supply they wanted to be able to differenciate/cancel the notes.
