I have this coin and I don't know anything about it. One side of the coin states: NEWEST TOWN BANFF OLDEST PARK. At bottom states: BANFF LAJE/LOUIS VALUE $100 EXPIRES DEC. 15, 1990. The other side: R.C.M.P~G.R.C. and at bottom: BANFF/LAKE LOUISE, ALBERTA, CANADA.

Hello Retired68,

I believe what you have is a commemorative "local dollar token" celebrating Banff being officially recognized as a town.

It is the only town located within the borders of a Canadian National Park. (Which is why they had difficulty becoming recognized.)
