In the first photo, it looks like the tips of the long cross at 3:00 and 6:00, which should be (and are) on the reverse, and between them the letters VND which can be seen in the same place on the reverse. IN the second photo, the legend is disappearing into beading that should be at the rim at 5:00. Other than this, some groups of letters can be made out, (obverse seems to suggest HENRICVS?), but difficult beyond this. Edit: Perhaps the error described, on this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces56000.html If you rotate your top photo 120 degrees clockwise, you have the beard pointing down in the proper orientation. Most are Henry III but the early issues of Edward I are of the same type and retain the name "Henricvs Rex". Report this Post to the Staff
