I grew up in Michigan and starting Canadian coins off and on when I was young (seems like forever ago) but I never tried to build a set. I bought a bunch of Canadian dollars in 2008 and I also was buying some of the Commemorative dollars from the mint. I actually like some of the colored dollars and they are really nice. I always liked the large cent but I only have about a dozen and probably won't buy many more. I have a huge cent from the Bank Of Upper Canada dated 1852 and a 1854 half penny also from the Bank Of Upper Canada.

I collect the small cent from 1920 to present, its a set in progress. I have a date set from 1940 to present still need the older variteis. I do have most of the newer varietys from 1998 to present. The second set of Canadian coin that I collect is the 2 dollar coin from 1996 to present I am down to needing 2 to have a complete set. I still need the 2000 single bear reverse and the 2003 W. I have all the rest of the coins from 1996 to 2010 in either BS or proof like, except for the 2010 I have a speciman finish one.

Welcome to the forum Staceyc777. What are your goals for the TPG graded small cents?

When you are Australian based you take anything nice that you can get, if the price is right, and for my interests, before 1967. My Canadian collection is descriptive only with type coins, but it does have some gold in it.

Hey Sel, an Australian member was kind enough to get me hooked on Aussie Florins by sending me samples and I believe in karma so let me know if there's something specific you want for a type or year and I'll pass it on in the same spirit.

I'm collecting mostly small cents but have also started colored quarters... Also with the adictivness of the hobby I'm gonna start getting mint rolls from the bank each year.

Preferably MS65 or better but its mainly whatever I can afford. I will wait for the good ones. I sell my extras to pay for new ones. Started with a $25 box of pennies and a charlton guide and the collection grew from there.

I've been doing the dollars and just now recently dabbled in the 50 cent pieces. It's fun and great break from doing the good old US coinage.

Ugly: When it comes to silver florins, my type set is a bit more complete. I have managed to assemble an almost complete type set of silver florins from Great Britain and the whole of the British Empire. 42 out of 44 coins, VF to Unc. The coppernickel florin component ia almost twice that number.
With Canadian silver dollars pre 1967, I am missing the '35 only. Hope to get that some day at a postal auction I regularly subscribe to, for over 20 years. I notice that early Canadian half dollars in nice condition are for me would be as hard as for a Canadian to get nice Australian silver florins.

I like collecting circulated Victorian 5c through 50c plus the occasional problem-free large cent when I can find one. I also collect the odd Edward VII, George V and VI and Elizabeth piece when I come across them in problem-free collector grades.
I've also retooled my collection and have traded or sold most of my certified common date condition rarities in favor of getting back to my collecting roots. I've discovered that I get more satisfaction from a nice XF raw coin for $30 than an MS65 for $600. No more registry chase for me.
Still buying key dates in slabs only though, to avoid getting taken in by Chinese fakes. Eventually I will whittle my high-end pieces down to a box of twenty keepers and then I will be a kid again, filling holes in albums and leaving the expensive stuff to the big boys.

I am in the middle of just pulling out old pennys from bank rolls, and I buy some stuff that is cheap at coin shows
