I checked everything in Die Pair 2 and it seems to match?

I continue to believe that this coin does does not match any of the three accepted die pairs. With a sharper second "2", it can only be Die Pair #2 (Strong Reverse) with sharp wheat lines, which this does not exhibit despite a VF obverse. Both Die Pairs #1 and #3 have a weaker second"2", which this does not. There are other inconsistencies as well.

@Jbuck....that's what I'm saying? I see no buff marks, no polish marks, no indication of tampering even under the microscope?

Yes, it has me befuddled. While I am not sure what is going on, I am reluctant to call shenanigans just yet.

Me either! The only thing I can say to the Pair # 2 checks is my wheat lines on reverse are weak but all the first major checks (1-5) are all Green light and exist on this coin? I'm not throwing in the towel just yet either!

The word TRUST is always noticeably sharper than the other words in the motto on a genuine Die Pair #2 - not so here (all letters in the motto look quite similar). Also, the bottom of the coat is also normally worn away on Die Pair #2 - not so here.

Maybe you've discovered die pair #4?! I'm not intimately familiar with this variety so can offer no real help. It may be that you will need to send off for authentication when all is said and done, but get plenty of eyes on it first.

@Coinfrog....ok so your giving me a lot of negatives about my coin but your not "OUTRIGHT" saying its a FAKE or tampered with? What are you saying? Is their anything positive about this coin or you've made up your mind it's not LEGIT? You know I'm NO EXPERT from my past dumb submissions (Lol) when I first got On CCF and you know I highly respect YOUR expert opinion so thank you! As you know I bought this as is on ebay at a HIGH risk but your the only one weighing in negatively.....I'm seeing different things then you are but I've only seen two of these in my life and one I submitted on here as a weak D 1922 and that was rebuffed as well? Give me something positive to hold on to till others weigh in? I'll bow out gracefully once we get a final, final consensus from a few more experts! I am seriously considering sending this in for a PCGS look to satisfy my curiosity then submit results? I wasn't afraid to spend $319 on it so another $68 for a fast 3 day walk through won't be an issue? What do you recommend? Do you see any remnants of a D mint Mark? Do you see the L in liberty against the rim? Do you see WE slightly mushy? Thanks again in advance for everyone's expertise!

Sarge, considering the price you paid and the numerous questions raised here, if I was in your shoes, I'd be thinking hard about returning this coin. Your statements seem to be you trying to justify keeping it, when some very, very good concerns about it being a fake are being presented. I think the best advice you received here was that any coin like this one should only be purchased slabbed. If you keep it, you'll always have the counterfeit question, especially if you ever try to sell it. If it was me, I'd be returning it. Good luck, Sarge.

If you have any doubts return it and renew the search for this coin. Otherwise, send it in and let the chips fall where they may.
