1972-D LMC Looks Like A Second Number Under 2, Damage Or Something Else?

At first I thought it was just damage but I don't understand how it would make it look like there is a completely separate number underneath the damaged/original 2.

It's probably nothing but I thought I better ask you guys first.

Just a master die issue. On the DDO's the line is more sweeping:
Here is a Philly example:
1972-D-LMC-Looks-Like-A-Second-Number-Under-2,-Damage-Or-Something-Else?
A Denver example, but not a master die example on the lower part of the '2':
1972-D-LMC-Looks-Like-A-Second-Number-Under-2,-Damage-Or-Something-Else?
The Master die doubled dies look more like this on the upper part of the lower horizontal on the '2'
1972-D-LMC-Looks-Like-A-Second-Number-Under-2,-Damage-Or-Something-Else?
All the rest of the coins have the master die doubling, but only the '2' is affected.
