@krice, in looking at the mintmark on the '79-D Cent, it does appear to be partially filled in. This may have come from the post on the die being partially chipped. However, even completely filled in mintmarks are common enough that there isn't a a premium.

Just a broken post that would normally form the center of the 'D'. Some break off part way, others half way, and some remove part of the die base leaving the center of the mintmark above the mintmark:
