I appreciate all the feedback and help! I truly do and I'm glad to hear about the 2019 DDR Nickels. GRATZ ON THOSE!! And sweet deal well I'll be posting more things. As I find manybthibhs with coins every day. Again tha is to all of you for the support it definitely makes me wanna try that much more tobaccompkish my goals in the Numismatics World! |

So what doni do with this Coin? Who would be the best person or Company to send this to to be attributed and or at least graded with such errors? I'll be awaiting feedback!

Let me set the record straight, I personally have zero interest in having a error discovered or named by me, and I am not in it for the money; my role is to have fun looking for various varieties and helping educate others.

This coin could be 1DR-001, but we have yet to see pics of all of the die markers. I see the die crack on the reverse but that's it. If it is 1DR-001, it wouldn't be a new discovery. I assume, considering that it is a fairly strong doubled die, that neither Wexler nor Wiles have it in their files, and that I have only seen this variety come up a few times, it is fairly rare. That doesn't mean much for value, however. Popularity and interest tend to drive value and this one is relatively unknown. In this condition I think you could get $20-$30 from a dedicated collector for it. Anything you could "do" with it would likely exceed the value of the coin. You could submit it to Wexler and Wiles to have it included in each of their files. You will be credited for adding the coin to their files, but since you weren't the first to discover it, that wouldn't mean much. That would cost $30+ You could submit it to ANACS for grading as they would be the only reputable TPG who would label it as a DDR. But again it would cost $30+ |

If you want to know if it is a DDR send it to Wexler, Variety Vista or Copper Coins. One of these will let you know if it is a new or existing listing. Then if it is a new listing you can send in to be slabbed along with the attribution note from these guys. Really getting the credit for discovering a new DDO or DDR is nice along with getting you name in Coin World---But it really doesn't change you life or make you wealthy. I have 3 DDO's cent listed by Wexler. It just helps prove you are a CHR that is educated enough to find some new varieties and gives you some self satisfaction. |

Ram that's whatbitbis for me Self satisfaction and to help the community grow and have more knowledge about the coins. The having my name down for a discobery is also so I can use it in my reasons and persuasion why someone new should Check out the numismatic world. Haha but thanks all of u I'll be getting more photos here tonight when I get home and better out of the 2x2 and with my scope. Upload here soon

The "glory" of discovering a new variety is really only the satisfaction of knowing you found one. No one knows the names of people who found minor die varieties, so there's no motivation for someone to try to scoop you, since they can't "steal" the satisfaction of having truly found the coin first. Moreover, to get a coin recognized, you'd have to send it to an expert for attribution, which means someone would have to find another example faster than you can mail yours in (seems unlikely for a coin that's gone almost 30 years without being discovered, if you're correct).
