This was posted on another site. I thought it odd that you can still see the point of the bust and "J" of the initial in the depressed area. I would think that if this was PMD the bust point and "J" would be obliterated. Is there such a thing as an almost clip? What say you error masters? Thanks.

Appears to be PMD, can you post a photo of the full reverse and obverse?

To answer your other question, there is such a thing as an incomplete punch (incomplete clip). Check this site outhttp://www.error-ref.com/incomplete-punch/
