1895 is a sparse year for me, but you will love my first piece and it was a junk silver find.  This is a 20 Piastres of Egypt (Ottoman - Eliayet) dated Year 21 of Abdul Hamid II's reign AH 1313 = Jun 1895/Jun 1896. It is worn, but what a beautiful and historic piece that conjures up the smoke filled seraglios, scented bazaars and bashi bazouks (Look it up) running around with their scimitars and turbans through a crowded suq looking for thieves and runaways from the harem. I just love these exotic and very overlooked coins (We have seen a few para and qirsh's but few medallion like Middle Eastern coins here). I have a few more coming and this piece is 40mm in size and weighs nearly 30 grams. |

My only other 1895 piece is another Canadian penny  I may specialise in these in the future, beautiful big coins and realtively cheap and historic. |
