This Ottoman Akce has the AH date retrograde (428), but that corresponds to 1421 AD. It was minted at Bursa and I have attributed it as Album 1302.1.

We have seen a whole bunch of these Groschen from the German City State of Aachen in the past few months. This one is dated 1420 via combination of Latin words and Roman numerals. I have attributed it as Levinson I-15. Also, I believe that I changed my user avatar to this coin a ways back.

On this day exactly ten years ago, the First Edition ended its months-long stall at 1499 when @tdziemia showed up to post a coin dated 1498. One year ago, we were (still) stuck at 1461 waiting for 1460. Now we're at 1420 waiting for 1419. It's a little weird to realize that, collectively across the editions of How Far Back Can We Go, we had passed through more dates in the last year (1461-1420=41) than in the previous nine years (1499-1461=38). Benefits of having a long stall to fill up the intermediate bits, I guess... I'd be surprised if this period is legitimately easier.

Yes great points @j1m. The past couple years have been productive ones for my OFEY collection and I think others' as well. I've got another Groschen to post for today but then a hole at 1418 AD. Here is my Levinson I-14:

It's nice to have a "chronicler" to give us that perspective! And that's a gorgeous 1419!! I have this 2 gros piece of the Duchy of Brabant, known at the time as a thuyne for the use of the Dutch garden device (though I'm not sure why anoyone would have a lion sitting in their garden). It is known to have been struck at the Maastricht mint between December 18, 1418 and Sept. 1, 1419 from mint records (Witte, Vol. 1, p.192), which I think qualifies it for 1419? © Jean Elsen et ses fils To give an idea of the productivity of the Maastricht mint at that time, the mintage of my coin was about 370,000 and for a second type struck around the same time 475,000. So that's a combined 3500 hammered coins per day. But it seems most of these have vanished. I could only find one or two of these auctioned in the last 15 years, which probably makes it the rarest coin I own, even though it was not very expensive.

I mentioned in my post just over a year ago (December 8, 2022 - one post above the Dec 27th comment I linked as "one year ago") that I would probably have been collecting Jaunpur tankas by now if postal trouble and/or antiquities laws did not make it inconveniently hard. Those circumstances have (somewhat sadly) not changed since that post.
I'm looking forward to more of those! Have you covered any of the expected missing dates yet?
(For reference: the remaining expected missing dates in the 15th century are 1415, 1410, 1406, 1404, 1402, 1401 - corresponding to AH 818, 813, 809, 806, 804, 803. Anything from there until AH 790 inclusive would be nice as well, though might take a while to get to; we only have a few dates in that range. I have AH 789 and things get slightly less spotty after that.)

I can contribute this coin for 1417. This Gros d' Florette was issued in France starting in October of that year. I have attributed it as Duplessy 387a and Roberts 2882.
