Another day, another tanka. 1402 (AH 804) Bahmani Sultans silver tanka. Way too many test holes IMO.
Approximately 60% or 220 days of 1402 CE fall within the Lunar Hijri year of AH 804 (depending on the calendar converter used).
Again, the date is bottom of the RH picture.

Finally made it to Melbourne after a 10 hour drive.
I don't have any info with me on this coin or the ones to follow all week, it's all on my PC at home.
So here is the coin pics, a Bahmanis tanka, 1401 CE, AH 803
Back again tomorrow

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first walking-backwards-by-year thread, on any numismatic forum, to have made it into the 14th century. Everyone else had stalled in the 15th or later.

And another tanka for 1398 CE (AH 800)
The last coin from ruler Taj ud din Firuz, or the first, depending on how you look at it.

Yay! That's definitely far more progress that I assumed could possibly happen in this edition

I believe the current soonest possible date for the 7th edition to catch up to this one is June 23rd. Realistically it would probably happen sometime in July unless there's a multi-week stall again (and/or unless the ongoing progress at filling out the 6th edition goes into overdrive and reaches, say, the 1370s).

Yikes just enough flan to be able to read the date on this one!

Never really understood why so many (mostly ancient and medieval) places kept putting dates in such close-to-edge positions that so frequently put them off flan. What's the point of having a date if you usually can't read it on the coin?
