Looking through my collection of wheat pennies I found this one that I compared to the one on variety vista that matched pretty close. http://www.varietyvista.com/01a%20L...2PDDO002.htm
Mine seems to be in an earlier state because it does not have as bold of a double 1 on the date, maybe I'm just overthinking it.
Anyway, I always enjoy all your input, and would like it on this.

The circulation flattening is trying to make you think it is a doubled die, but it isn't.
On the V.V. site you have to ready the description on these to see the doubled dies:

Quote:
Description: Strong spread Southwest on 19 of date, tie, eyelid, upper hair, and profile.

Note the date especially?

Thanks coop, I really appreciate it. I guess I am just looking to hard and seeing things that aren't there.

Good rule of thumb (especially as a beginner with older coins) is that if a coin has been around a while, all the die varieties you're likely to encounter are already known. Since doubled dies are an error on the die itself, every coin made by that die will display exactly the same error (not just some doubling that's sort of similar). If you find a coin from the 40s with doubling and it isn't exactly the doubling shown in a known die variety, it's almost certainly Machine Doubling.
