Well, quite honestly after the mania, it went into my safe and then the holidays hit so I kinda forgot about it. I already had gotten the W ERP so didn't really feel the need to open it. Also to get it graded properly(?) I thought you had to send it in a sealed box.

If you want the certificate and coin to be linked you have to send it in a sealed box, but you can also send it to anacs/NGC in a not sealed box I believe . But it's an ASE, why grade a coin when you know it's authentic? If it's a 70 you can tell and if it's a 69, your better leaving it raw. I'm pretty certain I have a 69 and a 70 in my 2. I don't see a value in grading moderns, I only see a value about grading classics for authenticity, and unless you are playing in the registry set, I see no reason to grade a coin just to grade. That's me though. I recently picked up a few AU/MS coins and every one cost about what a raw coin costs.

Yeah, those reasons are part of why I haven't pulled the trigger yet on grading it. I don't have a PCGS membership and all in it would probably cost 2x the cost of the coin itself (MSRP) to get everything slabbed. Assuming I don't get it graded this one will stay in OGP vs. being moved to my CAPS album. You know, when I get around to opening the box.

If you ever intend to sell it the 70 grade almost doubles the value. Also, coins still tone in OGP. Sad but true.

Mine is still in the box, tucked away where I put it and never opened. I've been on the fence about getting it graded and money was tight, and now this "situation".... honestly totally forgot about it and was focused on paying my property taxes for this year and this thread reminded me about it. :)
I'll probably dig it out in half a decade and say "gee, I have this? that was stupid" .

I'll probably dig it out in half a decade and say "gee, I have this? that was stupid" . I guess we are number 3 and 4 on this thread with unopened boxes. I did like the rest and just let it sit, forgot about it and then this thread made the bell go off. I haven't seen anything as far as tracking the signed COA's and am somewhat curious but I am content just leaving it sit for now.

I also have mine in its unopened original box. Schrodinger's Coin, it's both the #1 signed and not until it is opened.

I got mine all graded for resale value, if that need ever comes. Funny thing, one of mine is 1 of the 18 graded PF68 by NGC LOL. Still better than the 2 who got really unlucky with PF67 haha.

I can't tell based on your picture what the serial number is but from a spot check a PF69 is selling for slightly less than one in the original box and packaging. Unless you can tell that it's a PF70 it's not currently worth grading (for money that is), but there are people that won't buy a coin unless it's graded. Again your call. Mine aren't graded but I'm not selling mine.

At this point, having it graded would basically be a $75-$100 bet on essentially doubling the value, maybe less since they won't add the cert number or frame the cert which people are paying for. Don't think it'd be worth the gamble if you need the money.
