*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***I found this quarter today that looked odd but wasn't sure if the smooth edge was from wear or an error. The front and back of the quarter look almost new. Any help would be appreciated.

Some person grinded away the edges it appears. Why people wake up and decide to start grinding up quarters is not known but that is simply a spender. Keep looking, you'll come across something in time.

Thank you for the reply. My 9 year old son and I have recently started looking through rolls of quarters and have found quite a few West Points, a Wisconsin error, and an Arizona error. It's a great, cheap hobby to do with my son. This was the first smooth one we've seen.

I agree with @cf1997 that the edge of this coin was ground away (not a mint error). Also, I hope you and your son continue to enjoy this hobby together!
