When I got this back in change I thought it was altered or fake. After doing some research it looks like it maybe improperly annealed. I'm not sure what to call it or if it's been altered somehow. Does this look legit? Any info or comments appreciated
@rw1010, you should weigh it to confirm that it isn't missing a clad layer, but to be honest, this just looks like a coin that spent some time in a campfire or the ground. That looks like soot or surface staining of some sort.
