I found this 1973 Lincoln Cent with an unusually high obverse rim. Reverse seems normal. Is this an unusually heavy strike? A Dryer Coin?

All the 1973 cents have a higher rim. Why the gray color is there above the motto? I have no idea.

Yes I agree most likely not a Dryer Coin, but that silvery/light grey color along the rim is odd. Is that on the coin or an artifact of your picture-taking?

Hi Z2018,

I'm new to this and just searched a couple of boxes but I feel like I can guess if a coin is 70's fairly accurately by feel. I wondered the same thing myself at first. I was keeping them for a while until I realized many of them felt like deep/heavy strikes.
