While assisting an elderly acquaintance with a small horde of "stuff" this one appeared in an old sandwich bag of corroded copper. After 4 days of rescue efforts.......Engraving finally legible. This piece has huge local importance as the Canadian Canoe Museum is located in Peterborough (which is where this horde is). The Museum has a wonderful display on Daniel Herald. But nothing this early. The owner agrees that this belongs in the Museum and I am assisting them in this. Just thought I would share. MM

Do not forget to get a tax receipt for it if it goes to the museum. I have given items to 5 different museums across the US and just made another one here in Burlington to the Bronte Creek Provincial park for assist furnishing their Victorian House. You can assign whatever value that you want on it and the receiver just OK's it. Never done any coins before, though.

The Centennial Celebration in Philadelphia was a huge huge display of everything in art, manufacturing, and everyday common items worthy of being the best of 1876 from throughout the world.
